Statistics show that homelessness is a growing problem in Anchorage. Many indicate that there are more than 4,000 people without homes.
But some local residents said it doesn't take a lot, to do a lot.
Saturday, the motorcycle club, Alaska Krewe 1, handed out warm clothes and hot drinks to those in need.
With temperatures in the single digits, recipients put the hats, gloves, coats, pants and blankets to immediate use.
All of the clothes were donated and included both used and new garments.
Tim Fitzgerald, who coordinated the event, estimates that more than 150 people stopped by the Army-Navy Store, where the give-away took place.
"It's for them, it's not for us, this is for them," Fitzgerald said. "This is what we do to help bring the holiday spirit to these people on the streets."
Those who received donations said they were incredibly grateful.
This is the 17th year that the club has organized a clothing drive, and Fitzgerald said that he expects it to happen for many more years to come.
