Biker Fest Lawsuit Settled Before Event Friday, April 11, 2008 (01:59:13)

As hundreds of motorcycles come thundering across the Queen Isabella Memorial Bridge for this weekend's 5th annual Beach-n-Biker Fest, the clouds of a court dispute that threatened to stop the event will be largely forgotten.
David Wise, a Cameron County justice of the peace, is a member of Harlingen-based Magic Valley Riders M/C, which organizes the event.
The lawsuit his group filed against John L. Parker of Harlingen accused Parker of trying to take over the festival for his own profit, but the conflict was settled, Wise said.
"Magic Valley Riders basically kept Beach-n-Biker Fest, but we'll be giving a contribution to an established nonprofit organization that John Parker will select," Wise said.
Magic Valley Riders agreed to donate 40 percent of its net revenues from the 2008, 2009 and 2010 Beach-n-Biker Fest to a nonprofit organization formed by Parker, a Nov. 29 court document states.
